A Wild Lugia Appears by JacquelineChroma A Wild Lugia Appears by JacquelineChroma
Me, uploading? So soon? I surprise even myself sometimes!

Story behind this one is, I just started my Software class for this semester, and our first in-class project was to combine photos into a new landscape-type thing. Our teacher recommended picking our own photos for future projects to avoid possible copyright infringement, so yep, that's what these are!

The background image is a photo I took while I was in Wyoming, it's one of the lakes in the Grand Tetons, though I don't remember which one--Lake Jenny? And the Lugia is also a photograph! It's a figurine that GameStop gave out with pre-orders of Pokemon SoulSilver, I believe; my friend gave it to me as a gift, since I didn't have a DS at the game to get SoulSilver myself.

I've never tried photomanipulation like this before, trying to combine two images together to make a realistic image (or pass somewhat as realistic, haha). So I'm really proud that it came out the way it did! And then I was like, hey this is fan art, I'll post it to DeviantART! Don't expect too much of this in the future, it was just a fun thing to do as a class assignment.

Hope y'all like!

This is very original. The lighting is perfect. Maybe you should have use some real photo references for the splashing effect, though...

Thank you so much! :D And I do agree with you on the water. The statue already had a splash as its base which was a different color from the water in the photo, so that was definitely the most difficult part of integrating the two images. As I was using a school computer I had only one class period to work on it, so alas I didn't have much time with it... Definitely will use reference in the future, though, if I get the chance to make another photomanipulation like this again! :)

Thank you! The key thing, I've discovered, in making realistic photo-manipulation is paying attention to the lighting: the reference shot I had of Lugia had the light coming from behind, and the light is coming from behind the mountains, so I just had to make sure they were lined up properly. I also edited out some spots of light that were on front of Lugia, since that light source would not exist in that environment. I sort of winged the water effects by using the brush tool, mostly in matching up the colors, and used a dotted textured smudge tool to create the 'motion blur'. There's a lot more to it, but that's the gist of what I did. XD
